A nice night to stay in…

Oh, the weather outside is frightful…

Our first measurable snow of the year.

Our first measurable snow of the year.

but the fire is so delightful!

I found the perfect spot!

I found the perfect spot!

I wish I could stay home with Lilly tonight!!

Say it ain’t snow!

Just when we could begin to see the grass – another snow storm came along!

But I wanted to play outside!!

But I wanted to play outside!!

Goodbye snow (for now)!

Lilly enjoyed spending time on the deck this afternoon just watching all of the action in the backyard.  It is good to see the grass again after a long winter.  We’ll enjoy it while it lasts and hope that the 5-9 inches of snow they’re forecasting for tomorrow night doesn’t make it here!

Goodbye snow - it's been fun!

First Day of Spring

It has been an incredibly snowy and cold winter in our area.  We have worked hard to keep a path open for Lilly in her backyard.  She loves the circle with an “X” in the middle that we have created for her.  When she feels a puppy burst of energy, it’s fun to watch her run 100 mph around and around.  Even though today is the first official day of Spring, the temperature right now is a chilly 9 degrees.  I believe Lilly’s winter running track will be around for a while!

First Snow of the Season

I remember this stuff – it’s pretty cold, but a lot of FUN!!

Toasty Warm Lilly

Two things have happened that have made Lilly a very snuggly little puppy – she got a summer haircut just before the temperatures dropped (we saw snowflakes this morning).  Here she is taking a nap bundled into the blanket and in front of the fireplace.

Puddle Jumper

The temperatures rose to over 60 degrees today!  Plenty warm to melt the remaining snow on the ground and plenty warm for Lilly to splash around in the temporary puddles in our back yard!

Queen of the Hill

This past week we had an ice storm.  The ice made a nice crust over the snow.  Now Lilly doesn’t sink through the snow drifts, she can walk right along the top. Here she is one night standing on top of a big pile of snow.  Why?  Because she can!

Again?

Not only does Lilly toss around pieces of her rawhide bones inside the house, but she has also discovered the fun of tossing tiny pieces of ice and snow all around the yard. (I’m amazed at her ability to find the tiny bits of ice even when they land in a big pile of snow.)

She’s only asked to go outside about 14 times today!

Baby It’s Cold Outside!

Despite being called to come in several times, Lilly had a lot of fun playing in the snow!  It looks like she’s ready for some hot chocolate!

(Just a comment on our last blog – the item Lilly ripped was a paper towel – her little dress is still safely being tossed around the house!)
